How to create and submit sitemap for a blogger/blogspot blog

If you must have a successful blog then you must keep search engine in mind or you’ll have to continue with another way of gaining traffick for your blog and you know what that means; stress, you will be fully involved each and every hour in order to maintain a steady traffick for your blog. But this is not the case when you have a sitemap created for your blog because you’ll be smiling to search engines. In this article, I’ll be showing you how to easily create site map that keeps search engine robots on your blog pages always.

To create a site map follow the following steps:

·         Go to http://ctrlq.org/blogger/

·         type the full address of your blogspot blog (or your self-hosted Blogger blog).

·         Click the Create Sitemap button and this tool will instantly generate the necessary text for your sitemap as see in the screen shot below.

·         Copy the entire generated text to your clipboard

·         Next go to your Blogger dashboard and under Settings – > Search Preferences, the enable Custom robots.txt option (available in the Crawling and Indexing section). Paste the clipboard text here and save your changes.

You can also generate your blog’s site-map by writing url

This is also simple and more effective too, though complex; but better for advanced blogs. The sitemap is already generated by default you’ll just need to specify the proper url. And here is how it will look:

http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500

NOTE: This one will only show max 500 posts (most recent) in your blog. So if your blog is quite bigger and has more than that you’ll need to create multiple sitemaps. It’s fine to use multiple sitemaps for a single blog. If you have between 1000 posts, you’ll need two sitemaps as below:

http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500

http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=501&max-results=500

that is the first line will generate 500 posts and the second line will generate for another 500 posts.

If you have about 2000 posts for example, then you’ll have to add more and it should look like the one below:

http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500

http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=501&max-results=500

http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1001&max-results=500

http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1501&max-results=500

If you have more then you can change the start-index value to your desire but make sure you are increasing it by 500 and leave max-results=500 same for all.
